LIFE IS GOOD!

Life just keeps rolling on and I can't do a darn thing about it. It's the kind of loss of control that makes a control freak like me have frequent dreams that my teeth are falling out. I finally had to look into it...why the teeth dreams? It seems that if you're finding yourself dreaming about teeth falling out you are "anxious and worried about things that you have no control over...i.e. money, getting older, and children growing up and becoming more independant". Well, there you go...check....check....and CHECK! However, all the worrying aside, I cannot deny that my life is good! My family makes me so happy. I love watching them enjoy life, their family and their friends. Here's the latest "Scott Scoop"...

On May 13th, I was successful in throwing a surprise 16th birthday party for Connor at my Mom & Dad's. I combined Connor's favorite things...his family, friends, music, water, and food and it was a big success! He had NO CLUE, which of course I was very proud of!

My sister Becky came to visit...just her, without her family. She was able to spend some time with Lisie's new baby and we were able to get some beach time in. We took a looooong bike ride and a jog with my dad. It was a fun, beautiful day!

Grace decided she wanted to try her hand at softball this year. Her team name: The PIRANHA'S! It was such a fun season and she did awesome!! We loved coming to all of her games. Her team ended coming in 2nd place, just barely losing the 1st place title!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRACE!! May 6th Grace turned 11 and we had a birthyday party for a few ofher close friends here at the house. She has such a good time!

On April 23rd, my newest niece, Braelyn Rae, was born and I had the honor of being in the delivery room to witness the miracle!
Here we go....brace's: phase 2....bring it on! Maybe when we're done paying for braces, we can eat again.
Syd decided she wanted to play soccer for the 1st time ever. I love how she just dives head first without fear into something brand new. Her friends dad coached the team and she was a natural! No one could believe she never played soccer before. Go ICE BOMBS!

Every year we take a family trip to Disneyland and I'm proud to say that every last one of us is tall enough to ride alllll the rides!

IT'S CATCH-UP TIME!

It's hideous that it's taken me since March of this year to muster up a new post....whaaaat?! So much has gone on.....so here we go....Since my last post we've celebrated every one of our birthdays, softball season ended for Syd (didn't come in 1st this year, but 2nd), summer has come and gone which included Girl's camp for Syd and I, a trip to Utah to visit Becky and family, EFY for Connor as well as his last Scout Camp at Catalina Island, Connor's braces came off, Grace's brace's went on, our camping vacation...so fun, and a bazillion trips to the beach. School is back in session, waterpolo season is coming to a close (Upland Varsity's going to CIF....whoop!) , Syd made advanced choir at the Junior High, I was made Young Women's President in our ward, Rod was just called as 2nd counselor in the Bishopric and we're just trying to keep up with it all!

I love my family with all it's chaos...softball games, swim meets, young men/young women activites, orthodontist appointments (we have 3 in braces right now!), birthday parties, school choir performances...and I still get to go and do something that is a big part of who I am on occasion which is perform, and love every minute of it! I'm just finishing up my last 2 weekends at the Candlelight Pavilion in the production of "Pajama Game". Its been a lot of fun and the cast has been great. I've been working with some long time friends and have made some wonderful new ones! Connor is on the swim team now at Upland High, and Syd is in the middle of softball season, just started track and field at the Junior High and is still involved with the choral program too! Grace and Camille are loving 1st and 4th grade and I'm sure each of them will be involved in another extra-curricular activity again soon :) LIFE IS GOOD....here are a few pictures of just some of it...

CHRISTMAS MORNING

We spent Christmas Eve with my parents and Lisie and Jason and their kids. We had a great meal, a lesson that Lisie prepared, then we made candy houses. The kids opened their new pajamas and then we spent time just visiting. It was nice. We don't have to get up quite as early these days on Christmas morning, but 7am rolls around pretty quick when you're staying up late the night before waiting for Santa to arrive! The kids were excited as usual and I have to admit that watching the kids open gifts is the best part of Christmas morning for me. We started carrying on the tradition of lining up the kids in the hallway and taking their picture before they open gifts like Rod and his sisters used to do. Connor's big gift was an electric guitar that he lovingly named "Janine" for reasons I'm still a little fuzzy on. Syd, Grace and Millie got mostly clothes and shoes just like they asked for, and they were very pleasantly surprised to find that Santa brought them the Wii and a trampoline! The best part about Christmas day is spending time with our family. We always spend a couple hours at my parents, then we go straight to Rod's parents house to eat and open presents. Luckily for us, they live just a mile or 2 apart! Our kids are very blessed to have both sets of grandparents alive and well and living so nearby! I love my family!

OK, so I just put the Halloween costume box away...how did Christmas sneak up so quickly? Usually we have our fresh tree up and decorated by the first Monday night in December...this year I'm running way behind having only just yesterday decorated the inside of the house. The annual Nativity Arts and Music Festival where I sing every year has already come and gone, we've been to one Christmas Party, and we had the opportunity to take our entire family to the Candlelight Pavilion Dinner Theater to see the Christmas Show. Camille and I hit Victoria Gardens for one of her little friends birthday parties...it's so beautiful there with all the lights adn the big tree...I feel like the month is literally slipping away. I have to say though that I'm enjoying my family. We just watched "Elf" for family night this week and cracked up, and we are going Saturday to get our tree. The kids always have hot chocolate the night we decorate the tree and I give each of them their ornaments for the year. I love the simple things in life!

We enjoyed our Thanksgiving with our family! Mom, Dad, Lisie, Jason and their boys came over to our house... then we joined some of Rods family later over at Joell and Devon's. Lots of delicious food and some good laughs. I am thankful for so many things... my family for sure. I love them so much and I am enjoying every moment spent with them. I'm grateful I'm close with my sisters- Becky and Elise. I couldn't imagine not having a relationship with them. We have a great time when we're together. Our children are growing up so fast and I'm trying to concentrate on being in the moment when I'm with them...never letting anything distract me from noticing their faces, their laughs, the way they tell a story. We all went to the movies together yesterday and I love that they still like to be with just the family (especially the older 2!) I'm thankful for my Heavenly Father and the many blessings that He so freely lays right in our laps. I see them so clearly all the time. I'm thankful for the gospel and the way that our lives are shaped when we live it fully. The reason there is so much love, light and happiness in our family is directly related to our willingness to live the gospel and turn from the things that the rest of the world so easily accepts as ok. I'm thankful for my good friends. I am blessed to have just the right amount of quality friends around me to share my life experiences with. I'm thankful for my husband. I cannot deny that I got the better end of the deal, yet he still loves me like I was the most perfect woman on the earth. I could go on and on about the things I'm thankful for...food, a place to live, my eyesight, my hearing, that I can walk and run...the list is endless! I am so thankful.

December 12, 1906- November 5, 2009

We were honored to be able to travel to Utah this weekend to attend the funeral of Rodney's Grandmother. The kids are very blessed to have been able to spend time with their great-grandmother many times before she passed away. She left this earth just shy of 103 years old! We got to learn more about this wonderful woman and visit with many family members while we were there. Grama Scott loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren! More than that she loved the Lord and the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We'll miss you Grama Scott!

Millie is our baby and as the 4th child she is very independant and outgoing. She loves play dates with her friends and enjoys being with her family. Millie is 6 and in 1st grade at Magnolia Elementary. She is fun and very loving... We can't imagine life without her!

Grace doesn't ever just walk into a room...she cartwheels in...or prances...or does a front walk-over. Named after my grandmother Grace, she is a 4th grader at Magnolia Elementary and has a whole bunch of good friends. She does well in school and takes good care of her little sister. Grace loves to dance, play at the beach, and is a great singer. We adore her.

Sydney

Sydney is 12 and in Junior High at Pioneer. She loves spending time with her family and friends, playing softball, texting on her phone, and she has a beautiful singing voice. Syd turned 12 in August...it was exciting to see her enter the Young Women's Program at church. Syd has such a bubbly personality and is so fun to be around! She is a great sister and she adds so much joy to our family.

Connor

Connor is our oldest and we couldn't be more proud. He is awesome. He loves to listen to music, play his guitar and hang out with family and friends. A freshman in high school, he goes to seminary at 5:30 in the morning and plays water polo for Upland High. He is also working on becoming an Eagle Scout. We love Connor's outgoing personality and how he's tackled this new, rigorous schedule this year.
